A Supportive Place to Build Confidence and Independence

We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with mental health needs and adults with complex or overlapping support needs. Our aim is to create a calm, respectful and supportive environment where people can feel understood, valued and encouraged in everyday life.

For some people, support may mean help with daily routines, communication or confidence. For others, it may involve guidance with community access, tenancy responsibilities, emotional wellbeing, independence skills or personal care where applicable.

Whatever the level of support needed, we take time to understand the person first. Their abilities, preferences, routines, risks and goals all matter when planning the right support.

    Respect

We treat each person as an individual. Their choices, communication style, background, routines and goals are important to how support is planned.

    Dignity

We aim to provide support in a way that protects privacy, encourages choice and helps people feel valued in everyday life.

    Safety

Support is planned with care, clear communication and risk awareness. The aim is to help people feel more settled and supported in daily life.

    Who We Are

Windmill Lodge is a supported living service for adults who need practical guidance, structure and reassurance to manage daily life more confidently.

We believe good support should feel personal, respectful and consistent. It should help people feel safe without taking away their choices. It should encourage independence without rushing progress. It should recognise that every person has their own story, strengths and way of communicating.

Our team works with individuals, families, carers, social workers, commissioners, local authorities and healthcare professionals where appropriate. From the first enquiry, we aim to provide clear information, careful assessment and support that is planned around the individual.

    We Start With the Person

Before support begins, we complete a pre-assessment to understand the person’s needs, strengths, routines, communication style, risks, preferences and goals. This helps us decide whether Windmill Lodge may be suitable and what level of support may be needed.

    We Encourage Independence

Independence looks different for every person. For one adult, it may mean learning to manage a morning routine. For another, it may mean attending appointments, taking part in the community or building confidence with tenancy responsibilities. We support people at a pace that feels realistic, safe and meaningful for them.

We Keep Support Calm and Consistent

Many adults benefit from structure, reassurance and clear communication. We aim to provide support that feels steady, respectful and easier to understand. This is especially important for adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with mental health needs and those with complex or overlapping needs.

    We Review Support Over Time

People’s needs can change. Confidence can grow. Risks, routines and goals may also change over time. Support plans can be reviewed so the right guidance remains in place as the person’s situation develops.

    Working With Families and Professionals

Finding the right supported living service can be an important and sensitive decision.

Families want reassurance that their loved one will be listened to and supported properly. Social workers, commissioners and healthcare professionals need clear information before making a referral or placement enquiry.

Our team can discuss the person’s needs, explain the pre-assessment process and advise whether Windmill Lodge may be suitable.

Where appropriate and agreed, we can work alongside the people involved in the person’s support so planning is clear and joined up.
